Recognise and Respond to a Seekers Understanding
All the strands that make up the idea of health for seekers should be acknowledged and considered during the course of their health journey.
Health seekers subscribe to an expansive view of their health while the health system is often singularly focused on delivering physical health. Our work found that this disconnect inadvertently asks seekers to make trade offs between their various strands of health, resulting in unsatisfactory outcomes. For example, the financial trade-offs health seekers have to make to seek care could be alleviated through digital solutions, such as online appointment booking or digital systems that formally recognize and empower a patient’s naturally existing community of care.
